Will ChatGPT take software engineer’s jobs?
These days everyone is freaking out that chatGPT will take everyone’s jobs, let’s look at this in more detail.
To explain this I would like you to look at history, when first tractors were made lots of farmers were scared that it will take their jobs but when it was actually launched there were lots of factories that make the tractors it needed lots of labour as well as engineers and mechanics and them admin to look after them so in the end tractors created way more jobs then it took. But yes there was a shift in job market as instead of farmer you would be engineer, labour or mechanic.
Just because people start sending email they did not stop mailing stuff, intact post office is still very much part of our day today life.
Also just because TV was launched people did not just stop using radio. radio still exists you can listen to it over the internet or car etc.
so considering all that the conclusion is that even thoug chat GPT is storng and it will effect our life we should embrace its powers and use it for good rather than being scared of it. I can’t say if it will take and engineer’s job but i can easy for sure that it will make a software engineer’s job easier.
and second most important take away from this post is that AI = Artificial Intelligence is here to stay and will change how we do everything else, now would be the good time to do a course in AI to be ready for the new job market.
